Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so terrible that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to process the sheer level of unadulterated absurdity and just gives up, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping mechanism.
But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really funny. It's just plain terrible. And the laughter you felt morphs into a groan.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of confusion. You question about the nature of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Worst Day Ever
It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't make it to look right. As I was scrambling out the door, I stumbled and spilled all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was completely running behind for school.

The rest of the day was even worse. was a catastrophe. I get anything done.
By the time I got home, I was exhausted. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as an epic fail.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
